The 2010 Aintree festival has been hailed a success after a multi-agency policing and CCTV security operation ensured that racegoers had a safe and enjoyable three days racing.
Police made just 5 arrests inside the racecourse during the three-day event, which attracted total of 140,000 people in total.
Saturdays grand national was particularly good spirited with only 1 arrest inside the course, for drunk and disorderly, as thousands of race goers enjoyed the sunshine.
CCTV was pivotal in helping all agency's concerned in the operation.
Ch Supt Ian Pilling, who headed up the policing operation over the three days, said: "Yet again Aintree has proved to be a fantastic event for Merseyside and everyone has left with a smile on their face. The crowds have been incredibly good-natured with very few incidents inside the course and out, and it has been a pleasure to police. I'd like to thank racegoers, local residents and everyone who worked during Aintree for their contribution to an outstanding event which once again puts Merseyside on the map for all the right reasons."
